How do you run a weekly reorder point report in NetSuite?

Last updated

The quickest reorder point report in NetSuite is Reports > Inventory/Items > Current Inventory Snapshot with the At or Below Reorder Point box checked. To get it every week without logging in, build an item saved search with the same columns and schedule its results by email.

These steps follow Oracle's current NetSuite online help, as published on 2026-10-01. Report columns depend on your features, especially Multi-Location Inventory and Advanced Inventory Management.

Which NetSuite report shows items below their reorder point?

Current Inventory Snapshot is the standard report for it. It lists each inventory item with its reorder point, stock quantities and the quantity NetSuite suggests ordering, and its filter toolbar can limit the list to items at or below their reorder point.

ColumnWhy a buyer cares
Preferred VendorGroup the list into one order per vendor
Reorder PointThe trigger level; a blank needs fixing
Quantity On HandWhat is physically in stock
Quantity On OrderWhat is already coming from vendors
Quantity CommittedWhat open sales orders have already claimed
Quantity To OrderNetSuite's suggested replenishment
Preferred Stock LevelThe level the suggestion refills to

How do you run the snapshot, step by step?

It takes under a minute once your reorder points are set.

  1. Go to Reports > Inventory/Items > Current Inventory Snapshot.
  2. On the filter toolbar, choose a Subsidiary and Location if you buy per site.
  3. Check At or Below Reorder Point.
  4. Let the report load. Large accounts show a progress message, and you can cancel it if needed.
  5. Sort by Preferred Vendor and review each vendor's lines before ordering.

Two limits matter. The report shows the current moment only and does not support reporting by period. With Multi-Location Inventory, some fields show values only for each item's preferred location, and items without a preferred location show none. If an item you expected is missing, see why items go missing from Order Items; most causes are the same, but an item exactly at its reorder point can appear here and still be left off Order Items, which lists items below it.

How do you get the report emailed every week?

NetSuite schedules emails from saved searches, not from the snapshot report itself. Build an item saved search showing the columns above, then set its Email subtab to send on a weekly schedule.

  1. Create a saved search on items, limited to inventory items, with results columns for preferred vendor, reorder point, quantity available, on order and preferred stock level.
  2. Add criteria so only the items you buy appear, for example by location or vendor.
  3. On the Email subtab, check Send Emails According to Schedule.
  4. On the Schedule subtab, choose Weekly Event and the day. Set a start date that falls on that day and a start time; pick an early hour so the list is waiting before buyers start.
  5. Set an end date in End By or check No End Date.
  6. Add buyers in the Specific Recipients sublist.
  7. On Customize Message, choose Send as CSV or Send as Microsoft Excel. Oracle recommends CSV because it is the most compact; PDF is not one of the options.
  8. Click Save, or Save & Email to send a first copy now.

You need the Administrator role or the Publish Search permission at Create level. Each email carries at most 10,000 rows and 5 MB; larger results are cut off with a note in the email.

Is there a dashboard view instead?

Yes. The Item 360 Purchasing page (Reports > Item 360 > Item 360, then Purchasing) includes a Planned Re-order Item Purchases portlet. It shows planned purchases based on reorder points with rate, total, currency and preferred vendor, next to open purchase orders and open requisitions.

It suits a buyer who checks one item at a time. The weekly emailed search suits a buyer who works through a whole vendor list.

What should a weekly reorder routine look like?

Pick one day and keep the same order of steps. A routine that takes 30 minutes beats an urgent hunt when something runs out.

  • Make sure the weekly inventory metrics calculation has run first. By default it runs Sunday at midnight Pacific, so Monday is a natural review day.
  • Read the emailed list vendor by vendor and mark anything you know is seasonal or discontinued.
  • Place the orders from the Order Items page, filtered by vendor.
  • Note items with no reorder point and fix their records before the next week.

Where does ReorderOwl fit?

ReorderOwl replaces the spreadsheet step of this routine. In ChatGPT, it reads your NetSuite sales history, stock on hand, open purchase orders, vendors and lead times, then recommends what to order and how much, grouped by vendor.

It forecasts each item from its sales history rather than relying on a stored reorder point, and returns an Excel workbook that explains each line and shows overstock value. The NetSuite connection is built; we test it against your NetSuite sandbox with you before go-live. Nothing goes to a vendor until someone on your team sends it. See the ReorderOwl for NetSuite page.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a "reorder point report" in NetSuite?

Not by that name. Current Inventory Snapshot, under Reports, Inventory/Items, does the job when you check At or Below Reorder Point.

Can NetSuite email the Current Inventory Snapshot automatically?

Scheduled emails come from saved searches. Build an item saved search with the same columns and schedule it on the Email subtab.

What file formats can a scheduled saved search attach?

CSV, Microsoft Excel or Tableau Workbook, or the results in the message body. Oracle recommends CSV because it is the most compact. PDF is not one of the options.

Why does the snapshot show blank values for some items?

With Multi-Location Inventory, some fields show values only for each item's preferred location. Items without a preferred location show no value there.
